As a Clinical Psychologist with additional body based training, I am able to offer the people I work with a holistic therapeutic approach to dealing with difficulties that have an impact on their physical health, psychological wellbeing, functioning and relationships.
I have over 30 years of experience working with individuals, families and other professionals to provide support in times of difficulty. This includes more than 25 years of experience of working in the NHS in community and inpatient settings. I have been working in private practice since 2018 predominantly with adults experiencing psychological difficulties which
can range from short term moderate level difficulties to more severe longer term and complex issues.
My passion and commitment to this work comes as much from my own personal experiences and interest in continual learning and development as from my professional knowledge and skills and I believe this has helped me to balance providing support with empowering people to recognise their strengths and develop their skills and resources to
deal with the on-going challenges that life brings us as human beings.
My areas of experience and skills are;
I take a compassion focused and integrative approach to working collaboratively to understand how difficulties can develop and be maintained by a range of biological, psychological and social processes.
I can support people to develop an awareness and understanding of these processes and most importantly empower and support them to make meaningful changes through the use of a range of holistic processes and practices.
As a Clinical Psychologist I am able to draw on a range of therapy models including cognitive, behavioural, psychodynamic and systemic approaches as well as frameworks and principles from ACT, EMDR, IFS and CFT. However, in my experience it is as important to be able to flexibly and skilfully adapt these to each individual’s needs and preferences particularly in cases where early developmental trauma may have an impact on engagement and working on emotional and relational issues.
I have an on-going interest and experience of working with complexity and the impact of early developmental trauma and have engaged in further training to support this work.
