Clinical Reflexology – How it Works…

Dawn Fox

Reflexology is a complementary, holistic therapy. It involves the stimulation of reflexes on the hands and feet that are mapped to the internal organs and glands. Whilst some clients seek reflexology simply for the calming relaxation it promotes however it is very beneficial to overall well being.

Our bodies can hold onto the everyday stresses and strains of life and over time these can manifest into daily physical niggles or more systemic illnesses. In reflexology, using the fingers and thumbs to apply pressure to these key reflexes aids circulation and releases blocked energy to help rebalance the body; assisting its natural healing capabilities.

A treatment plan is tailored to meet the needs of individual clients. This involves the stimulation of specific reflexes identified during the initial consultation.

Reflexology is recognised and used by the NHS as a complementary therapy in palliative care settings and fertility services. It is accepted that reflexology provides natural pain relief which offers an alternative for those seeking drug free solutions for chronic pain.
